Chasmosaurus - from the group Ceratopsidae - lived during the Upper Cretaceous - about 76 - 72 million years ago - in what is now North America. This plant-eating dinosaur was about 5 m long and weighed about 2 tons.
Its large neck shield was not made of solid bone but had large, weight-reducing windows that were probably covered with skin during its lifetime.
